Your new home has an existing security system
Many times after you purchase a home, you’ll find that the old owners left a home security system. All the devices work, are hung in the right places, and are ready to go. In this example, all you might have to do is to call and set up a new contract. A Vivint installer will still show up to make sure there are no compatibility problems, and they might offer ideas on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a fast appointment, and you can have your monitoring set up without paying for any new components -- unless you make additions.
The previous owners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal transfer fee to make the transfer easier. If the outgoing residents are moving to a condo or smaller home, you keeping the Vivint contract may be an addendum of the sale.
You are looking to move and take your old devices with you
You might want to take your existing Vivint system with you to a new home when you move. Luckily, it's fairly simple to accomplish, as modern smart devices are wireless. You can uninstall each device yourself or contact a Vivint installer to dismantle your devices. Then a pro will put in the same features -- and any new things you want -- in your new home. Your home security contract will keep the same.
